Summer school yayyyy.....

So today I signed up for summer school for Government and Economics, and thank God, they combined the course. My school had a recent budget cut that requires us to pay for summer school now.. Not that's it's ever been a problem for me, but they had to do it the year I needed it ...

Summer school goes from July 12th to August 18th, but it'll be less than that since my courses don't have a Regents exam.. On top of work, this summer is going to flyyyyyyy~

One thing I'm not looking forward to, is SATs in Germany.. I took a preSAT once and I'm not sure how I'm going to deal..

That's pretty much all I had to say... Still no host family :p but I'm dealing lol.. I hope I get placed in Norddeutschland..

Actually June 19th*

I thought I would never receive that e-mail, I've finally been accepted by AFS Germany!

It'll be less than 90 days until I'm in Washington D.C., or maybe even in Germany. It still hasn't hit me that hard yet.. I expect it will when I get my host family.. or I maybe it won't until the day we leave for D.C.. All I know is that I can't wait.

On a semi-unrelated topic, I wanted to lightly brush on credits for my school..
Unfortunately my guidance counselor has been not so supportive of my decision, but in the end she's "dealing." My principal on the other hand is all but negative on this situation. In May, my mother and I went for a meeting with him and we discussed the credits I'd need to graduate and the sort of classes I'd be taking in Germany. He is accepting ANYTHING. I'm so surprised.. If it's a requirement for my graduation and I take it in Germany, I just have to take the exam when I come back. Oh, I've just finished my sophomore year and I'll be in Germany for my Junior year. When I come back, my schedule is going to be packed.. To graduate I need Algebra2/Trig, US History, English 11 and 12, 1 Regents Science and another Science (+their labs), 2 gym credits, PC Skills, Health, Government and finally, Economics.. Unfortunately, it's impossible to take all that in my senior year. So for summer school (yaaaaaaaaay.....) I get to take Government and Economics..

I think what's made this process go more quickly are the extremely well placed conference calls. I think I spend one week just thinking about the call that's on it's way.. Once that one is over, the next week goes by quickly and then I'm thinking about the next one again.. I thought this was going to be the longest 3 months of my life. Especially since I haven't gotten a host family yet.. I think once they find me it'll be even quicker. We've been told that we might not know who our family is until a week before we leave.. It's not that much of a big deal... but I sure hope that's not me.. :p

I think that's a pretty decent amount of words with little to be said.. So, until then :P

*My first post was originally posted on May 19th.
So far….
I have applied for a scholarship that would cover the costs (excluding spending money) of living in Germany for 10 months while attending a German school. December 17, 2010, my application was accepted. January 18, 2011, I was to complete a second and full application for the CBYX scholarship. I went for the interview on February 18th. There were 5 of us present, but 4 people absent. It was the least bit painful since I had previously met 2 of the judges. On April 1st, I received a note telling me that the results of incredibly nerve racking process was soon to be over. Just 7 days later, I was a finalist
Since then, I have turned in my acceptance forms, had my at-home interview, have gone to the pre-departure orientation and sat in on the first conference call. My at-home interview was even less painful, although I was nervous. The pre-departure orientation was sort of fun, we basically went over all the important things that we’ve been told since day one. I found out 5 people from my region got accepted, two of which had their interview at a different location. But finally, the conference call. The part I was most nervous about is nothing to fear. Call the number, wait for all to arrive, and then sit and listen. They went over some cultural aspects of Germany and a few people asked questions. Nbd :P

I have another conference call on June 6th, July 18th, and August 8th, I believe. Then Washington D.C. to leave for Deutschland! :D
OH! I also received this,
Luggage tag! Ach jaaaa ;D
Well, I think that wraps up about 9 months of work… lol
Hopefully this will help the following years’ CBYX applicants with their process, current finalists to relate or even just friends and family who’d like to know what’s up.
So, until next time :P
